Dear Commissioners:
Thank you for taking the time to consider the needs of deaf and hard of hearing people, and making sure we all have access to each other via the telecommunications network. Through your actions regarding relay, you have made America a global leader in providing full access to the telecommunications network.
However, the debate on real VRS telephone numbers has gone on long enough. There is a solution offered to the FCC that uses the same technology and the same database that the telecommunications industry has developed for hearing users. I want to be treated the same as a hearing user. I want to be able to access the same services that a hearing user can. It is my understanding that the NPAC solution with URI addresses will do this.
Please do not make "special" or "unique" solutions which are only nicer words for "inferior". Please make your decision based on what's right, and what will maintain America's lead as a global leader in telecommunications accessibility for the deaf and the hard of hearing.
I look forward to getting my real VRS telephone number by the end of this year!
Thank you for considering this.
